Picking an attorney is a big decision, especially when life already feels heavy. These FAQs are here to give you clarity, answer the common first questions, and help you decide your next step. If you’d rather talk it through, we’re here when you’re ready.

We don’t do the cold, overly formal “lawyer talk” thing. We meet you where you are, listen first, and explain your options in a way that actually makes sense. You’ll get empathy and honesty while at the same time clear guidance, real expectations, and a steady plan forward.

Our work is focused on family legal matters because these cases are personal and they deserve experienced, thoughtful guidance. That includes divorce, custody and visitation, child support, paternity, modifications, relocation, guardian ad litem work, and mediation. If you’re not sure what your situation “counts as,” that’s okay, we’ll help you sort it out.

First: take a breath. This may feel like the ground shifted under you, but you don’t have to figure it out all at once. A good starting point is to gather basic information (accounts, income, major expenses, and anything related to the kids) and avoid making big decisions out of panic. When you’re ready, we can talk through your situation and map out the next right steps for you and your family.

Mediation is a way to work toward an agreement with the help of a neutral third party often with more privacy, more control, and less stress than going straight to court. It’s a structured conversation focused on problem-solving, not “winning.” If mediation is a fit for your situation, it can save time, money, and emotional energy while helping you reach a solution you can actually live with.

Yes, of course. This is family law, and we understand childcare isn’t always simple. You’re welcome to bring your kids, and we’ll do our best to make the space comfortable while we talk through what you need. Be aware, if there are adult conversations we may have the child step out of the room.

Guilty. Dogs are part of our world here, and if you meet in-office, you may see one of our “law dogs” (they’re friendly—just big fans of people). If you’re allergic, anxious around animals, or just prefer a pet-free meeting, tell us ahead of time and we’ll absolutely accommodate you!

We’re a family-run firm, and we know how personal these situations are because we’ve built our lives around people, not just paperwork. We care about being steady, practical, and human—while still being honest about what your case needs. And yes…we’re outdoors people, we like to laugh when it’s appropriate, and we’ll treat you with respect from the first conversation to the last.
